St. Patrick’s Outreach Committee works to meet the needs of those in our local community as well as those needs within our own Parish family. Outreach is an extremely active and busy committee. In the last year, we have contributed to: the fuel assistance program of the Brewer Community Service Council, Episcopal Relief and Development’s (ERD) post-natal care and health care programs, Brewer Farmers Market/EBT program, Maine Harvest for the Hungry, Partners for Peace (formerly the SpruceRun/WomanCare Alliance), and Shaw House. We work closely with Faith Linking in Action and the Listening Team. We continue to host a free community lunch at Columbia Street Baptist Church every other month and make weekly contributions to the Brewer Area Food Pantry.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry (see image on left). Prayer shawls are created stitch by stitch with love by several individuals. They are given to some one in need of a hug, comfort, thought, love, and prayer. After each shawl’s completion, it is blessed by the priest and by the congregation. Each shawl is wrapped lovingly and carefully, with a lovely prayer for the recipient.

Monday night’s Creative Crafts and Conversation group which began in October 2016 has grown into a wonderful collaboration between Outreach and Artful Spirit Connection. Creative Crafts and Conversation offers opportunities to share and learn, lots of great laughs and companionship.

If you would like to be a part of this busy and dynamic group, or have an idea on how to serve another needy population in our area, please contact Kate Petrie
