Fall Food Fair: BREAKFAST AND BEYOND!
St. Patrick’s was a busy place yesterday morning when we had a good response and steady flow of folks who came for breakfast and took home some homemade baked and canned goods. We await the final tally of our efforts.
A tremendous THANK YOU goes out to Sandra Currier for chairing this event, and Mark Spahr for his delicious breakfast renditions, and to all those who baked, and canned, helped with set up, table decorations, clean up, supervising tables and assisting in the kitchen.

The Worship Committee invites you to the next Listening Session on December 1st after the service. We will have our coffee upstairs and meet in the Sanctuary. Please plan to join us as we talk about our journey of faith together ! Your input is important to us!
An Advent Quiet Day at St. James’ in Old Town
There will be an Advent Mini- Quiet Day on
Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at St. James in Old Town. This will be hosted by the area Episcopal Clergy, who will provide a light supper of soup, salad, and bread. It will be similar to the Quiet time we have held in Lent. Please mark your calendars now and plan to join us as we come together as a wider Episcopal community to recognize this Advent season.
GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER?
We all enjoy having get togethers with families and friends, especially this time of year ! Those get-togethers almost always revolve around a special meal !
Each Sunday during Advent* we invite a family/friends to help set the table for communion, for our special meal. Just bring in a plate for the bread and a goblet/ glass for the wine, a small tablecloth or placemat and maybe candles if you’d like. It doesn’t have to be fancy like Grandmother’s best china- unless that’s what you want! It can be something you use at home or something that may have special meaning to you. The families will assist our Deacon Peggy set the altar for communion. Don’t worry, we’ll give you directions ahead of time and will be in the wings to help if needed.

*Advent starts December 1st and the Last Sunday in Advent is December 22.
Please join us for our next Service of Prayer, Meditation, and Song in the style of Taizé on Thursday, December 5 @ 6:30 p.m. as we prepare for a Holy Advent.

Taizé Worship is a Non-denominational Service in which meditative prayer, scripture, and songs are used in a relaxed atmosphere where the worshiper will easily become comfortable with the music, scripture, prayers, quiet reflection, and community. The songs are short chants that are repeated several times so one can feel the inner movement of the music and allow themselves to settle into a contemplative worship experience. There is time for silence with meditation and prayer. The service is patterned after worship in the ecumenical Community of Taizé, France. We will also use music from the Iona Community in Scotland and other meditative music.

The Solidarity Harvest sponsored by Food AND Medicine is almost over this year. The St. Patrick’s community has certainly stepped up to the plate in the following ways:
- The Outreach Committee donated $300 for this effort.
- Our St. Patrick’s logo appears on the canvas bag given to the recipients.
- Some parishioners donated $40 for Sponsor a Meal.
- This week we have seen 9 parishioners participate at the sort week.
- Parishioners baked about 170 loaves of pumpkin bread.
- Ellen Fisher is the coordinator for the breads. She had to arrange for 1300 loaves of pumpkin bread and packages of dinner rolls. She had to deliver many of these.
- Peg Olson has spent every day at Sort Week serving as Welcome
- Mary Ann Perry is serving as Floor Captain and is also on The Solidarity Harvest Committee which meets all year.
- Patrick’s will distribute 9 Thanksgiving Baskets.
What a wonderful example of Living Local/Joining God as we meet our neighbors.

Child Care Team will meet on Dec. 10 from 6-7:30 at First United Methodist Church, Essex St., Bangor. They will study the up coming legislation and start planning the April Week of the Young Child. Food Access Committee. Though gardens have been prepared for winter, activities continue. It is evaluation time so they are working on a survey to be distributed to all who participated this year or who had intended to participate. Notice the Holyoke Street Neighborhood Garden is ready for winter too. FAC plans to hold cooking events and workshops to help people learn to stretch the food dollar. Any ideas??? IN-GATHERING DECEMBER 8TH
By now you have received the annual stewardship letter. Our In-gathering of pledge cards is December 8th but you are welcome to return your card at any time prior to that date. If you have never pledged, but have given to the church as a loose offering, please consider pledging as it is extremely helpful to the vestry as the vestry shapes the annual budget which is presented at the annual meeting in January.
A REMINDER TO THOSE MAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS
The vestry recently decided that we would include the announcement sheet on Sundays with the bulletin for all parishioners. The announcements are also published on our website at stpatsbrewer.org If you wish to have an announcement get to all parishioners, please send Christine an email by Thursday at firstname.lastname@example.org (put “announcement” in the subject line) so that your announcement appears in print and also online. Keep in mind that if you only announce it in church, you are only sharing your announcement with those attending that particular Sunday. We want to reach all our parishioners as a way of improving our communication in this very busy parish. If you need to be contacted, include your contact information and whether or not you wish to have that published online. Christine forwards the completed announcements to Paula who then posts them on our website.
Where does the loose offering in the plate go? The Outreach Committee would like to remind folks that the loose plate offering on the second Sunday of the month goes into the Outreach fund. On the third Sunday of the month it goes to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. On other Sundays it goes into the general fund.
