Growing in God's Love as an Open, Caring Community

2019 Easter Vigil

It may have been raining outside, the weather did not dampen the enthusiasm, excitement, and praise as three congregations celebrated the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil is  is a service held in traditional Christian churches as the first official celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus on the Saturday night before Easter.

The evening began with the lighting of the Paschal candle. Deacon Peggy Day served as cantor opening the service. Scripture and dramatic readings included the Creation Story, The Great flood and Noah, Parting of the Red Sea with Moses, and the Valley of the Dry Bones.  The evening included the first Holy Eucharist of Easter.
