The 16th Annual Solidarity Harvest is upon us! Supporting dozens of local farms, labor unions and partnering organizations, this wonderful program provides over 1300 hearty
Thanksgiving meals to people in hard times as well as their friends and families. It’s a lot of work and we need your help!
Sort Week begins Tuesday, November 13th and will wrap up Tuesday November 20th. Volunteer shifts are from 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, and 3pm-6pm. The shifts are flexible, but we strongly encourage folks to sign up ahead of time. You can do this by contacting me directly at 989-5830 or Adam@foodandmedicine.org.
Another way you can help is to Sponsor a Meal (or a few meals!). Our fundraising goal is over $50,000 because the food in these meal baskets is not donated, it’s purchased from smaller Maine farms and food producers. That’s one of the ways Solidarity Harvest stands out from other Thanksgiving meal basket programs – it supports the farm and local food economy while providing a hearty (and huge) meal to Mainers in hard times. Each meal basket contains over 27 lbs of locally grown and sourced produce, which costs us roughly $40. You can sponsor one or more meal baskets online or you can mail a check (payable to) Food AND Medicine, 20 Ivers Street, Brewer Maine 04412.
