It started with one art night back in October 2015 when St. Patrick’s invited eight area artists to display their art work with a lovely reception. It has since grown into three art nights; Pentecost, Autumn and Advent art installations, new gallery hanging system upstairs in the church area, creation of two gallery spaces: “Art in a Sacred Space” for more liturgical oriented art work and the downstairs Shamrock gallery area that features church and community members.
The Artful Spirit Connection leadership team includes Fr. Rick Cross, Rev. Peggy Day, our deacon; Paula Baines, and Bill Lagerstrom. The team worked successfully to write a new initiative grant application to the Episcopal Diocese of Maine and was awarded $5,000 to launch the new arts ministry. This a onetime grant. It is opportunity to seek out other community and grant support.
Artful Spirit includes art night receptions, display space for church members, weekly Creative Crafts and Conversation on Monday nights, the Worship planning team, future workshops in art meditation, photography, liturgical dance, painting and drawing.
