Growing in God's Love as an Open, Caring Community

Faith Linking In Action

St Patrick’s congregation is one of the founding members of Faith Linking in Action. It is a group of Bangor-area congregations, people of faith and community groups working together to “go upstream” to address the reasons people are falling into and getting stuck in poverty. Participants include most major faith traditions in our region.IMG_0540

Our faith calls us to be FLIA, listening and hearing the cries of our brothers and sisters as we seek:

–to build a community of justice and dignity in the greater Bangor area
–to find and empower leaders and change agents
–to demonstrate the love and mercy of God
–to encourage transforming change in our neighborhoods.

The current issues FLIA is addressing are: Transportation for All with better service through the Community Connector bus service; affordable and accessible Child Care for low-income families; and better access to Jobs for those underemployed or under qualified who have many barriers to overcome.

Update 8/1/16

Faith Linking in Action

Two years ago, a dozen congregations including St. Patrick’s joined together and set out to listen to their members and neighbors about their challenges, fears, concerns and dreams. Now, after having researched the concerns we heard, taken action, and reflected on what we learned, we are going back to the start of our cycle—we are gearing up for an August 2016 Listening & Relationship-Building Campaign, a collaborative effort of Faith Linking in Action and Food AND Medicine. YOU are invited to be a part of this effort:

Help Faith Linking in Action to connect with our community, learn about their concerns and identify new leaders and issues.
